A lucky punter has donated his earnings of €500 to the Laois Hospice Foundation.
Frank Kieran donated his winnings following his success in a Charity Tipping competition in the weekly Greyhound publication, The Sporting Press.
Frank, an Armagh native who now lives in Clonard, Mountrath, presented the cheque to the Chairman of the Laois Hospice Foundation, Seamus O’Donoghue.
Laois Hospice Foundation was founded in 1989, and was the first home-care service outside of Dublin.
Laois Hospice Foundation has helped to provide a palliative care service for Cancer patients, whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment.
The Hospice also provides support for the families of such patients. This total care involves doctors, nurses, a team of specialists and can include the clergy, who are all concerned with quality of life.
The main role of the committee is fundraising, and Laois Hospice has seen many great fundraisers and volunteers over the years.
Well done to Frank for his generous contribution.
