One of the top hotels in the midlands region is undergoing a name change.
The Portlaoise Heritage Hotel will become known as the Midlands Park Hotel and Conference Centre from next week.
The Portlaoise-centre hotel – which was opened in the summer of 2002 – has changed hands in recent years and is now owned by Colm Neville, who also owns the Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy and the Crown Bar in Wexford.
There is no longer a connection between the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel and the Heritage Killenard.
“We are excited to announce we will be officially changing the Name of the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel to the Midlands Park Hotel & Conference Centre from Monday 22nd May,” they posted the hotel on Facebook.
“During this week we will be in the process of changing over all our accounts on social media, website, emails and booking engines. We appreciate it if you can please bear with us during this process.”
The hotel has undergone considerable renovations in recent months and it’s understood that a number of new jobs are being created.
Elsewhere, in hotel news locally, the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise is celebrating its tenth birthday since its redevelopment this week. To mark the occasion they have introduced a new coffee bar in the lobby.
