This is absolutely disgraceful.
Parts of one of Laois’s main tourist attractions have been sprayed with graffiti.
The Rock of Dunamase, situated between Stradbally and Portlaoise, attracts thousands of visitors every year.
But some of the walls are now covered in spray paint thanks to the work of vandals.
The letters ‘DREVM’ and ‘SSG’ have been painted on the walls of the historic building – and it is unclear what these actually mean.
The graffiti was discovered by a local who was out walking over the weekend.
They said: “This is absolutely outrageous. The people who have done this have very little to be doing.
“It may be difficult for this to be cleaned too given the nature of the structure but hopefully something can be done.
“It is certainly very unsightly and such a dreadful thing to happen to one of our main tourist attractions.”
The Rock of Dunamase is owned by the Office of Public Works who have now been made aware of this incident.
