Laois venue nominated for prestigious Hot Press live music Venue of the Year award

A Portlaoise bar and venue has been nominated for the prestigious honour of the Hot Press live music Venue of the Year award.

Kavanagh’s Bar and Venue was nominated among major venues for the title for 2019.

Hot Press made the announcement yesterday. Also up for nomination for live music Venue of the Year include 3Arena, The National Concert Hall, Vicar Street and the Olympia Theatre in Dublin.

In all, 30 venues – spread right across the country – are in contention.

Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said: “Live music is absolutely vital to the health of the scene here at the moment. It is really encouraging that a spirit of adventure has come back into the business around the country.

“We salute the commitment of the venue owners, the promoters and the dreamers who make all of this stuff happen. Long may it continue to grow.”
