UPDATE: 60 lambs and dog Jess still missing after stolen jeep recovered

Stolen jeep

We thought we had a happy conclusion to this story but now it appears that we actually haven’t.

Earlier today, we reported that a jeep with a trailer containing 60 lambs and a sheepdog named Jess had been stolen.

The vehicle was taken around 4pm this afternoon.

The owner had gone in to a petrol station across the road from Aldi in Graiguecullen to pay for diesel but when he returned, the jeep had been stolen.

However, after a Facebook appeal and an article on our site which gained hundreds of shares, the news reached us that the jeep had been recovered.

It was found in Castlecomer in Kilkenny a short time ago.

However, the 60 lambs and Jess the sheep dog are still missing and are presumed to have been dumped somewhere between Carlow and Castlecomer.

Peter Kealy took to his Facebook page this evening to ask people to help locate them.

He said: “We got the news earlier that the jeep and the trailer had been found in Castlecomer.

“However, when we got there, we discovered that the lambs were gone and so too was Jess our sheepdog.

“We reckon they have been dumped somewhere between Castlecomer and Carlow and are appealing for people’s help to find them.”
