Portlaoise is still badly affected by traffic as the M7 motorway remains following a crash this morning.
The road, which connects Dublin/Cork/Limerick via Laois, has been closed southbound at the Junction 16 Portlaoise following a crash.
Overturned truck
The crash on the M7 at Junction 16 at The Heath around 10am resulted in gardai closing the motorway and diverting traffic via the old Dublin Rd (R445) to Portlaoise town centre before rejoining the M7 at J17 Portlaoise Centre.
A truck is believed to have overturned at the scene.
The motorway was due to reopen hours ago, but an update from AA Roadwatch says the road will remain closed until further notice.
