Knockbeg College hosted a sports day last Friday afternoon for the students which culminated in an exhibition football match among their Senior Footballers.
Refreshments were provided by the Parents’ Council. The highly popular and competitive bubble soccer was out in force which was provided by SCATS Bouncy Castle which proved to be a big hit with the students.
The sports day was to unveil plans to extend to their existing dressing rooms.
The new plans which includes the addition of two new dressing rooms, which aims to cater for the large number of students who participate in the extra curricular activities such as gaelic Football, Hurling and Athletics on a weekly basis.
Knockbeg College has a strong sporting ethos and tradition with the provision of an long lunch break (1hr 15 mins) within the timetable on both Tuesdays and Thursdays for the preperation of school teams.
Work for the building will commence in June and aims to be completed by Septmeber ahead of the new school year.
Knockbeg college which often hosts events and gatherings for past pupils will also be hosting an event this Saturday, April 28, in the Seven Oaks, the Past Pupils Union will host a Retirement Night for John Behan.
A presentation will be made to John on behalf of the Past Pupils Union for his years of great service as a teacher in Knockbeg since 1985 and his wonderful dedication to the Past Pupils Union.
