A well-known and busy pub on Main Street in Portlaoise has recently come on the market.
The Office Bar and Venue is currently being offered for sale by John F O’Brien in Elite Estate Agents – and has an asking price of €500,000.
The bar is currently leased and run by David Finn, who also owns the Blow Dry Parlour in Lyster Square.
The two-storey premises extends to almost 4,000 square foot in total with the upstairs comprised of a self-contained unit of almost 1,000 square foot with separate access to Main Street.
“The very well maintained premises consists of a large lounge/bar area ,almost 3,000 square feet with access from both the Main street and Lyster Square,” says the auctioneer on their posting on Daft.ie

The premises in question has had a number of different owners and names over the years. Prior to being the Office Bar, it was De Bruns, and before that Silvers and Cloisters – with Peig’s, owned by George Plunkett, also having a stint there.
The sale of the Office Bar and Venue is the latest development in the pub scene in Portlaoise.
The Square Bar was sold late in 2017 by the Fitzpatrick family to Michael Scully while it’s understood that Egan’s, which was bought by the O’Loughlin family in 2014, is to be leased to the group controlled by publican Alan Clancy who also owns pubs and venues in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Kilkenny.
