Students from Coláiste Iosagáin will take to the stage for their production of ‘Grease’ on January 18, following months of rehearsals.
The Portarlington school was recently putting the final touches to preparations under the direction of Ceire Hogan, Conor Mitchell, Laura Cahill and Emily Seery.
The production involves 80 students, with support coming from throughout the school.
The students have been working until 9pm on a number of nights to ensure the final preparations are in place and nothing is left to chance.
Sandy will be played by YouTube sensation Shannon Byran, who garnered over half a million hits last year with her performance of ‘Hello’ as gaeilge at Colaiste Lurgan.
She is delighted to add acting as another bow to her performing talents.
The part of Danny is played by Jon Ward who is really enjoying the experience.
Talented first year Aidan Howlin is Kenickie while Rizzo is played by TY student Robyn Hackett.
The pit singers/chorus have been fine tuning and are reported to be in fine voice for rousing numbers such as ‘Tell Me More’, ‘Grease Lightning’ and ‘Beauty School Dropout’.
The show runs in the school auditorium from Wednesday 18 January for three nights, until Friday January 20, at 8pm each night.
Tickets are available from a sales booth in the reception of the school at lunchtimes up to Thursday this week.
Tickets are €5 for students and €10 for adults.
