Tynan’s of the Storeyard were given a major accolade recently as their rhubarb tart received a big award.
John and Sally McKenna’s Guides named Imelda’s dish as Pudding of the Year.
They say: “Imelda Tynan learnt to bake from her brother, the late, great Jim Tynan, and she learnt well.
“To listen to her talk about baking, about pastry, about patisserie, is to listen to someone for whom the art of baking is nothing less than rapture.
“Fortunately, when you get a taste of Ms Tynan’s rhubarb tart, you get the taste of that rapture. Irish baking – and Irish food culture – at its zenith.”
Tynan’s welcomed the news on their Facebook page and revealed that they are set to reopen from their Christmas break on Thursday.
They said: “What a wonderful surprise to start 2018! So delighted that my Rhubarb Tart has been chosen as Pudding of the Year by John & Sally McKennas’ Guides.
“Am thrilled beyond words, and so looking forward to beginning baking again for my customers this week after the Christmas break. Tynan’s reopens this Thursday January 4 at 9.30am.”
And there was further good news for the team at Tynan’s today.
They have made it into Georgina Campbell’s ireland-guide.com Ireland The Best of the Best.
Imelda said: “I’m absolutely delighted and it was a lovely surprise for us on our prep day for reopening tomorrow.
“I couldn’t do it without the fabulous team I have working with me.
“We’re all looking forward to reopening and meeting our customers in the morning.”
