Gary Cobbe of Irish Polymer Extrusions Limited was named the Laois Young Entrepreneur of the Year at a ceremony in Killkenard yesterday.
In what is the fourth year of the competition, there were three categories – New Idea (pre-trading), Start Up (under less than 18 months) and Established (more than 18 months).
Gary also came first in the Best Established Business category.
The winner of the best New Idea was Declan Dunne (Crate Studio) and he received €7,000 while the runner-up in that category was Hollianne Phelan (Shopline) who got €3,000.
In the two other categories the winner received €15,000 with the runner-up getting €5,000.
Jonathan Bracken (Bracken Enterprise) was named the Best Start Up with Aaron Lennon (Linked) coming in second place.
While Gary Cobbe (Irish Polymer Extrusions Limited) was also crowned Best Established Business, Sharon Leavy (Sharon Leavy College of Hair & Beauty) finished runner up in the category.
