Vicarstown parkrun are holding their weekly event on December 23 and December 30 – but this time with a twist.
The parkrun on December 23 aims for 20 people run 5km in under 20 minutes and on December 30 they hope to have 30 women complete 5km in under 30 minutes.
For everyone
Laois athletics chairman John Scully said, “both parkrun events are open to both women and men and anyone can come along on the day.”
At last year’s event, 60-something-year-old Martin McDonald completed a magnificent feat and ran the 5k the run in 17.34 minutes.
The running track is along by the canal and entrants are invited back to the school in Vicarstown for tea afterwards.
There will be pacers alongside of the runners to let them know what time they come in at.
Vicarstown parkrun was set up in 2014 and has grown from strength to strength ever since.
parkrun is a simple concept: turn up every Saturday and run 5km, or if you’re a junior then 2km every Sunday.
There are parkrun events each Saturday and Sunday in countries all around the world.
To enter, register online here and bring along the barcode on the day.
