Laois woman Louise Phelan has been named Businesswoman of the Year at the InBUSINESS Recognition Awards, held earlier today.
The Rathdowney native is the global vice-president of PayPal.
Her role sees her have responsibility for western, central and eastern Europe, Ireland, the Middle East and Africa.
A prestigious list of Irish businesses came together this afternoon (Wednesday) to celebrate their excellent achievements, for the 6th consecutive year of the InBUSINESS Recognition Awards, which was held at the Westin Hotel, Dublin.
In association with SKODA, the InBUSINESS Recognition Awards 2017 recognised outstanding accomplishments in the Irish business community.
The Business Woman of the Year Award was bestowed upon Louise Phelan of PayPal.
“I’m absolutely honoured to receive this award and I hope that my story inspires more women to push themselves forward for leadership opportunities,” she said.
Winners were chosen across 20 categories based on the broad criteria of growth, profile of business, range of services and customer care.
With a recurring trend of year-on-year growth, and another very active year for the company, Dublin Port took home the top award, Company of the Year.
Business Man of the Year was awarded to Dave Kirwan of Bord Gáis Energy for his leadership as Managing Director of the company in what he describes as an increasingly competitive Irish energy market.
Enterprise Ireland took home the State Body Award and Zurich Life received the award for Life Assurance & Pensions.
Speaking at the awards, John Donegan, Brand Director of SKODA Ireland, said: “When I look at the prestigious list of businesses here today I can relate to many of them and their excellent achievements.
“Success does not come easy. Innovation, investment, recruitment and the ability to adapt are fundamental to survival, let alone success.”
