Buggie School of Irish Dancing bring home 41 world championship medals to Laois

Dancers from the Buggie School of Irish Dancing competed at the An Chomhdhail World Irish Dance Championships in Killarney last week.

Their teachers, Gráinne Buggie, Brid-Ann Buggie & Ann-Marie Kelly are extremely proud of each and every one of them who graced the world stage, some for their very first time.

Their youngest competitors, only 7 and 8 years of age, competed valliantly in the U-10 fairy reel competition.

In total they brought home 41 world medals to Laois.

Leah McDonald from The Rock-Mountmellick, who competed in the U-10 championship, and Emma McDonald from Stradbally who competed in the U-11 championship, won a 5th and 6th place medal respectively.

Millie-Ann Buggie from Stradbally competed in the U-11 championship, Sophie Ellis from Cullahill took part in the U-12, Chloe Ni Lochlain from Portlaoise competed in the U-13 and Fiona Buggie from Stradbally competed in the U-14.

These outstanding four ladies brought home an incredible three world medals each.

Kate Sheridan from Stradbally brought home another medal in the girls U-16 championship.

Violet Kruger O’Connell, Cullahill and Aisling Mills from Stradbally completed two beautiful rounds in the U-12 and U-19 championships.

The dancers were also very successful in the figure dance championships.

They finished in 4th place in the U-14 invention championship, 5th place in the U-12 fairy reel championship and 5th place in the U-12 ceili championship.
