In Pictures: Up bright and early as The Heath kick off St Patrick’s Day with the first parade

The Heath St Patrick's Day Parade Main 2025

It was a very early start in The Heath this morning as they got St Patrick’s Day underway with the very first parade in Laois.

It was an 8.45am start for the second staging of a parade in The Heath.

The parade was organised through The Heath GAA Health and Wellbeing committee, which have had a massive impact on the small rural community over the last few years.

The procession began bang on the button and a succession of floats headed from the GAA pitch to the church.

There was a competition for the best float, sponsored by Keyes Transport, and they had a judging stand set up in the middle.

Yours truly, former principal of The Heath NS Michael Dowling and local artist/teacher Aisling Hennessy had the tough task of trying to pick the best.

Refreshments and music took place in church hall after mass and goodie bags for all the children.

Photographer Ross Molloy was present this morning and captured some great images.
