Mountrath CS celebrates first Annual Patrons’ Day while Robotics team scoop Sportsmanship Award

Mountrath Community School Patrons Day

Mountrath Community School marked its inaugural Patrons’ Day with a celebration in the school on Tuesday, March 4.

This is a new tradition that honours the school’s rich history and values.

Established in 2009 through the amalgamation of Brigidine Convent Mountrath, Patrician Brothers Ballyfin, and St. Aengus Vocational School, the day was a heartfelt celebration of the school’s journey and its strong cultural foundations.

The event was made even more special with the presence of several important patrons, including Linda Tynana from LOETB, Br. Gerry, Br. Matthew, Br. Nicholas, Sr. Mary Sheedy, and Mary Kavanagh.

The patrons were warmly welcomed by both staff and students, who enjoyed a selection of delicious treats provided by the guests.

Patrons’ Day not only celebrated the past but also provided an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the values that have shaped Mountrath Community School into what it is today.

With the support of our patrons, the school looks forward to many more years of growth and success, continuing to uphold the traditions that make it a place of learning and community.

Meanwhile, Mountrath Community School were represented at the national final of the VEX Robotics competition recently.

Aaron Kirwan, Donnacha Buckley, PJ O’Brien and Lee Bredin traveled to MTU Cork to compete.

After a fantastic series of performances, they were awarded the Sportsmanship Award—an especially impressive achievement given that this was the school’s first year participating in the event.

Congratulations to the four boys who represented the school so exceptionally in Cork.
