Laois senior football manager Justin McNulty was impressed by those that he gave a debut to on Saturday in Leitrim.
Laois won the game at an absolute canter as it was over after 30 minutes when the visitors found themselves 18 points up.
Conor Brown, Fionn Holland, Jonah Kelly and John Brennan all came off the bench for the first time and McNulty is happy with their impacts.
He said: “I guess that’s (the debuts) enforced with the departures. But we’ve said it all along, we have full belief in the group we have.
“You saw six fellas in this game that didn’t play last week and none of them looked out of place.
“They all looked comfortable and they all looked like they could do the job for us.
“That’s obviously encouraging. And plus we have good experience as well. So there’s a good mix of experience and fresh talents coming in.
“So we can combine that well. And we need to combine that well because we know we have a really, really tough battle ahead next weekend.”
Laois continue on Sunday at home to Sligo at 1pm and McNulty is expecting a big battle.
He said: “We know Sligo will present a much tougher, tougher challenge for us.
“And we know we need to clean up our skills, clean up our general play, which was messy on occasions during the second half.
“And we need to be much better in terms of our defensive organisations as well, because Leitrim did create opportunities that could have punished us much more effectively.
“And if we don’t clean those up, if we’re not more defensively organised, if we’re not more ruthless up front, if we’re not more efficient in our general play, we’re going to be a real up against.
“So we need to do all of that next weekend.”
