Trilogy Triathlon Club to host TriLaois 2025 – The perfect event to start your triathlon journey

Trilogy Triathlon Club are gearing up to host the TriLaois Sprint and Tri-a-Tri races to be held on Saturday, April 12, as part of TriLaois 2025.

Now in its 15th year, this pool based triathlon is the perfect event for both first time triathletes and seasoned competitors looking to kickstart their season with a friendly, yet competitive race.

The event, to be held in Portlaoise, offers a welcoming atmosphere, excellent race support, and stunning routes through the Laois countryside.

Race Details

Sprint Distance

  • 750m Pool Swim
  • 22.5km Cycle
  • 5km Run

Tri-a-Tri Distance

  • 400m Pool Swim
  • 22.5km Cycle
  • 5km Run

The Swim

Both race categories feature a pool based swim at Portlaoise Leisure Centre.

The Sprint race requires 30 lengths (750m) and the Tri-a-Tri requires 16 lengths (400m).

This is a perfect opportunity to experience a controlled, indoor environment before transitioning to outdoor races.

The Bike

After the swim, athletes will enjoy a 22.5km bike course through the beautiful Laois countryside.

This fully marshalled route is designed for all levels, with plenty of support along the way.

The Run

The final 5km run takes place on quiet roads, finishing back at the Portlaoise Leisure Centre.

The flat, out-and-back course provides an ideal opportunity to test your speed and endurance.

Relay Options

For those who want to team up, Relay Teams are welcome.

Only one team member needs a Triathlon Ireland Membership or a One-Day Membership Licence.

Important Information

TriLaois 2025 is a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned race, and all participants must meet the licensing requirements outlined below:

Triathlon Ireland Members with a Race Licence Must present proof of current membership either via membership card or the Triathlon Ireland app at registration.

Triathlon Ireland Members with a Training Licence or Non-Members Must purchase a One Day Membership Licence to compete. (€30)

Licences must be purchased at least two days before the race from the Triathlon Ireland website. (This fee is not included in the race entry fee.)

One Day Membership Licences will not be sold at registration. Only one team member needs a valid Triathlon Ireland Membership or One Day Membership Licence.

Please note, no Triathlon Ireland Race Licence or One Day Membership Licence at registration will mean you will not be able to race.

Race Logistics

Parking: There will be no parking available on-site at Portlaoise Leisure Centre.

However, there are several nearby parking options, and race marshals will be on hand to direct
participants on the morning of the event.

Post-Race Refuel: After the race, enjoy complimentary post-race refreshments to recharge and celebrate your achievement!

Trilogy Triathlon Club are also running a nine-week training programme to take people from beginners to triathlete.

New members will be brought on a training journey along with support of existing club members and coaches throughout the nine weeks, culminating at TriLaois 2025. Register here.

The club’s main aim and hope is that many of the new beginners will continue their sporting journey after TriLaois and get involved in the many training sessions and races that Trilogy provides.
