St Fergal’s Rathdowney 0-12 Clane 0-9
South Leinster Junior ‘C’ Hurling Championship Semi final
There was glory for St Fergal’s Rathdowney as they defeated Clane to claim South Leinster Junior ‘C’ hurling glory.
This was after a three point win over the Kildare outfit in the Centre of Excellence on Monday.
This team are coached by Ciaran Comerford of The Harps and Pauric Campion of Drom and Inch in Tipperary.
This was a tight contest and St Fergal’s actually went in for the break behind.
Captain John Coonan got the pick of the points for them in the opening half but they trailed 0-6 to 0-5 at the end of it.
But St Fergal’s took control in the third quarter with Callum Jones and James Doherty both scoring excellent points to move them five clear at one point.
Clane stayed battling away but super performances from Evan Grey and Darragh Breslin at the back kept them at bay.
In the end, John Coonan of Clough-Ballacolla was presented with the trophy.
St Fergal’s now progress to the Leinster stage of the competition where they will be hoping to add more silverware.
