5th-year and LCA Art students from Portlaoise College had the experience of a lifetime as they visited Paris last week as part of their studies in European art history.
The trip brought their classroom lessons to life, allowing them to see firsthand what they had previously only encountered on screens or in books.
Accompanied by their teachers Mr Hennessy, Ms O’Grady, and Mr Petkovic, the students explored world-renowned museums such as the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay.
Here, they immersed themselves in the masterpieces of iconic artists like Da Vinci, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Monet.
The students also soaked in the vibrant atmosphere of Montmartre, enjoyed scenic river cruises along the Seine, and marveled at breathtaking views from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, including the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Cœur.
These experiences sparked their creativity and deepened their appreciation for art and culture.
Principal Noel Daly expressed his delight in the students’ engagement.
He said: “This trip was a fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with European art and culture in a truly meaningful way.
“This trip has enabled their creativity to flourish in such an inspiring setting, which is incredible.”
The trip was a perfect blend of learning and the enchanting magic of Paris, leaving the students with memories and inspiration that will last a lifetime.
