Laois GAA have recorded a significant surplus for the fourth year running, according to the recent set of accounts which will be presented to annual convention in the Midlands Park Hotel next week.
A surplus of €254,136 is detailed in the accounts, as prepared by Laois GAA treasurer Paschal McEvoy and audited by Forvis Mazaars.
Delegates who attend the meet on Monday December 9 will be shown how the surplus has increased by almost €34,000 from last year.
This follows on from a surplus of €220,1498 in 2023, €376,037 in 2022 and €505,132 in 2021. The figures are for the 12 months ending on September 30.
In terms of expenditure, the most eye-catching figure comes in the category for spending on inter-county teams which broke €1.1 million.
The total figure of €1,113,255 is up from €863,807 in 2023 which was the then a record.
The total figure is almost double what it was in 2022, €639,745, and is once again the highest amount ever recorded in this category by Laois GAA.
The fact that the Laois footballers reached the Tailteann Cup final and the Laois hurlers reached the Joe McDonagh Cup final would surely be factors in the increase.
Spending on county teams is broken down across a variety of categories, including Catering/Overnights, Players Travelling Expenses, Team Admin Expenses, Buses, Training Facilities, Sportsgear and Medical Expenses.
Spending increased in most categories with Team Manager, Selectors and Backroom Personnel up over €70,000 to €396,426.
Travelling Expenses were up almost €22,000 to €174,673 and Meals/Catering/Nutrition increasing by almost €64,000 to €252,856.
