Independent General Election candidate Elaine Mullally says that her election posters have been ‘stolen’ from around 30 locations in Laois.
The Independent candidate says that some of her posters are missing from ‘prominent placements’ along the Dublin road in Portlaoise.
“As a first-time candidate who has largely self-financed this campaign, I find it incredibly unfair to face these issues,” Elaine stated.
“I believe Laois deserves real change, and every poster that’s removed or stolen undermines my ability to connect with voters and share my message for a better future.”
Like all Independent candidates, Mullally says that putting up posters comes at a personal cost to her as she is not part of a political party.
“I don’t have the luxury of reusing old party posters, state funding, or a party HQ to support me,” Elaine added.
“Every single poster represents a personal investment in my campaign and in the people of Laois, whom I am dedicated to representing independently.
“This unfair treatment makes it even harder for true Independents to gain visibility in this election.”
Tampering with or removing election posters was something that featured in the Local Elections in the summer.
Several candidates reported that their posters had been stolen during the campaign.
While other election hopefuls had their heads cut out of their posters too.
The issue also arose during the 2019 Local Election where the matter was investigated by Gardai.
