CONFIRMED: Taoiseach Simon Harris confirms date for 2024 General Election

After weeks and maybe even months of speculation, we finally have a date for the 2024 General Election.

Speaking on RTE News this evening, Taoiseach Simon Harris announced the date to David McCullagh.

He told the RTE presenter that he intends to as President Higgins to dissolve the Dail on Friday.

And after that, he confirmed that the election will be held on Friday, November 29.

This has been the date that has been speculated for many weeks – but is now confirmed.

Laois people will be asked to elect three TDs to the Dail.

The constituency of Laois-Offaly has been broken up from one five-seater to two three-seaters.

Fianna Fail’s Sean Fleming and Independent Brian Stanley will seek re-electing with Fine Gael’s Charlie Flanagan retiring.

Willie Aird (Fine Gael), Maria McCormack (Sinn Fein), Rosie Palmer (Green Party), Ken Mooney (People Before Profit), Mary Hand (Aontu), Elaine Mullally (Independent) and Aisling Moran (Independent) are also in the field.
