Laois primary school to host fundraising talk in support of new astro turf pitch

A Laois primary school is embarking on a project to develop their own astro pitch and fundraising efforts are now underway.

In support to fund Astro turf pitch in Ballyfin NS, renowned child psychologist Dr David Coleman will present a compelling talk titled “Helping Children and
Teenagers Build Resilience and Self-Esteem”.

The event will take place on November 21 at 7.30 pm. All funds from ticket sales will go towards funding this community project.

Dr Coleman believes in the world we live in parents are overprotective of their children. Dr Coleman’s presentation will explore why children will benefit from overcoming life’s challenges “Without some experience of suffering”.

He notes, “how can children learn that they can not just survive adversity, but thrive afterward?”

Dr. Coleman’s aim from this talk is to equip parents and guardians with skills and tasks to support their children in developing emotional resilience and self confidence.

Coming from his years of experience, Dr Coleman will share practical intervention strategies that empower young people to face life’s highs and lows with confidence.

Known for his engaging style, he combines his extensive knowledge with humour and stories from past experiences. His main goal from the talk is making it as informative and enjoyable for everyone.

The session will also include an open forum Q&A giving attendees the opportunity to ask relevant questions and discuss past and present personal experiences.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to support Ballyfin NS’s community goals while getting invaluable lessons into youth developments.
