Na Fianna Og 2-8 Ballylinan 1-8
Laois U-20 Football Championship Group A Round 2
Na Fianna Og secured their first victory of the Laois U-20 football championship after they defeated Ballylinan this afternoon.
The amalgamation of Arles-Kilcruise, Arles-Killeen and Barrowhouse had to do it the hard way as they came from behind.
Ballylinan, who were well beaten by Portlaoise in Round 1, were much improved and led by five points at half time.
Ben Slattery kept Na Fianna Og in it as his goal left it 1-6 to 1-1 at the interval in favour of Ballylinan.
But it all unravelled for them in the second half and they finished the game with 13 men following the dismissals of Cathal Casey and Joey Walsh.
In the end, Slattery scored a second goal as Na Fianna Og won by three.
The other U-20 game scheduled for today did not go ahead as Emo-Courtwood gave Graiguecullen a walkover.
The next fixture in this competition is on Monday where St Joseph’s host Ballyroan-Abbey in Group B.
