IFA President set to be honoured with Civic Reception in Laois County Council

Francie Gorman

Current IFA President Francie Gorman is set to be honoured with a Civic Reception in Laois County Council.

Gorman, who farms in Ballinakill but is a native of Spink, was elected as national president of the IFA last December.

He had previously been the South Leinster regional chairman and, prior to that, had served a term as chairman of Laois IFA.

Current Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council, Padraig Fleming, will host the event in the council chambers next Thursday, October 31, when family, friends and supporters of Gorman will be in attendance.

Gorman saw off the challenge of Martin Stapleton from Limerick to win the IFA presidential position in last December’s election. In all he polled almost 17,000 votes from farmers across the country.
