Portlaoise College hosted a vibrant and diverse Intercultural Day recently, with over 30 nationalities coming together to celebrate their unique cultures.
Organised by Mr O’Neill, Ms Puslednik, Mr Walsh, and Ms Wilson, the event saw each nationality represented with its own stand showcasing traditional dress, food, maps, and pictures from their homelands.
Students, staff, and visitors had the opportunity to explore different cultures and sample a variety of international delicacies.
The official judges awarded the best stands to Ukraine, Poland, South Korea, Costa Rica, and Vietnam.
While all excelled, those were especially commended for their creativity and cultural representation.
Mr O’Neill, Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Coordinator, praised the students for their efforts.
He said: “It was wonderful to see such pride in their heritage and the sense of unity that this event fostered among the school community.”
Principal Noel Daly added: “Intercultural Day is one of the highlights of our year.
“It celebrates the diversity within our school and teaches us to appreciate the beauty of different cultures.”
The event was as a great success, bringing students and staff together in a day of learning, sharing, and celebration.
