Patrick (Pat) Poole, Sarsfield Street, Mountmellick and formerly of Capard, Rosenallis, Co.Laois.
Died peacefully on 19th of October 2024 surrounded by his loving family and under the care of the wonderful nurses and staff of the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise and formerly cared for by the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore and Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally, Co. Laois.
Predeceased by his wife Josephine, his parents Joseph and Susan, his brothers Peter, Maurice, Lorcan and his nephew Muiris.
Deeply regretted by his brother John Joe, nephews Joseph, Fergal and Aidan, nieces , Antoinette, Jane, Veronica, Eilish, Susan and Olive, sisters-in-law Anne and Maureen, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home, Mountmellick (R32 PC95) on Monday 21st of October from 5pm. Recital of the Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Tuesday at 10.30am to St Brigid’s Church, Rosenallis arriving for 11 O’Clock Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St Brigid’s Cemetery, Rosenallis.
John Walsh
Loughteague, Stradbally, Laois
John passed away peacefully at his home in Loughteague on Friday morning, October 18th 2024.
Beloved husband of Mary (Kerr) and loving father to Brigid (Quigley), Anna (Malone) and Siobhán. Predeceased by his parents Denis and Bridget, brother Tom, and infant daughter Angela.
Deeply regretted by his sister Maureen (Ryan), brothers Jim, Denny and Pat. Cherished grandfather to Michael, Eóin, TJ, Pádraig and Anne. Sadly missed by his sons-in-law John and Garrett, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, great neighbours and friends.
Reposing at his home (R32 KC97) on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm with prayers on both evenings at 8pm. Removal by Whelehan Funeral Directors on Monday for 12 noon Requiem mass in The Church of the Holy Cross Ratheniska, which can be viewed on the church webcam https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/ratheniska-webcam/ Interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Antoinette McDonald (née Flynn)

Antoinette McDonald (nee Flynn) Cherrygarth Abbeyleix rd Portlaoise. Oct 17th 2024 Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife to PJ and loving mother to Keith, Evan, Andrea, and Leon. Cherished grandmother to Kolia, Kaja, Ally , Cian and Conor. Deeply regretted by her loving family. Son in law Paul, daughter in laws, Tara, Nicola, Marlena. Brother in law Matt. Relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her family home at (Eircode R32P52X) on Sunday evening from 4pm until 8pm. Rosary will be recited at 7.30pm. Removal on Monday to SS Peter and Pauls Church Portlaoise for 12 noon requiem mass. Interment will take place afterwards in SS Peter and Pauls cemetery Portlaoise.
James (Jim) O’Rourke
Lower Sconce, Mountrath, Laois
Jim passed away peacefully on the 17th October 2024, at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Beloved husband of Margaret, and dear father to Carmel (Fitzpatrick) Dysart, Michael and John. Deeply regretted by his family, grandchildren Patrick, Breda, Ciara, Aoife, Meg and Kim, sister Anne, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath on Friday evening (18th October) from 6.30 p.m. concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock. Removal on Saturday morning (19th October) to St. Fintan’s Church, Ballyfin, for Requiem Mass at 10.clock, followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Breda Quinlan (née Moloney)
Ballaghmore, Borris-in-Ossory, Laois, R32KR44/Roscrea, Tipperary
And formerly of Corville, Roscrea. Peacefully at Tullamore Regional Hospital.
Pre-deceased by her parents Johnny and Bridie, her brother Liam and father-in-law Paddy.
Deeply regretted by her loving husband Michael, daughter Paula, son David, sister Mary Gleeson (Loughmore), mother-in-law Matilda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and wide circle of friends.
Reposing at her residence (R32KR44) on Friday evening from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. Private removal from her residence on Saturday morning at 10.30am arriving in St. Molua’s Church, Ballaghmore (R32RC53) for Funeral Mass at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Family flowers only please donations if desired to Laois Hospice.
(As parking is limited at her residence, there will be a shuttle bus service running from Ballaghmore village to her residence. We ask that people park at the village and church car parks).
John Abbott
High Ridge, Ballyhemmon, Castlecomer, Kilkenny/Pike of Rushall, Laois
John passed away peacefully on 16th October 2024 at Castlecomer District Hospital, Co. Kilkenny. Survived by his wife Enid, beloved father of Cynthia, Edwin, and Clive, and grandfather of Ruadhan, Aodhan, Devin, Tilly, Holly and Lottie. John will be greatly missed by his family, extended family, relatives and friends.
Removal on Saturday afternoon, the 19th October, to St. Mary’s Church, Ardra, Castlecomer, (eircode R95Y5VY) for Funeral Service at 2.30 p.m., followed by burial in the adjoining Churchyard.
Jacqueline (Jackie) Nolan
Killenard, Portarlington, Laois/Tallaght, Dublin/Kinnitty, Offaly
Formerly of Tallaght, Dublin and Kinnitty, County Offaly. Peacefully surrounded by Avril, Susan, Michelle, Lorraine and Connor at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by her partner David, mother Kathleen, brothers and sisters. Sadly missed by her loving daughters and their partners, father Michael, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family, neighbours, friends and her cat Lily Rose.
Reposing at Maher’s Chapel of Rest, Portarlington (Eircode R32 X5XV) on Friday, 18th October, from 4pm until 6pm. Reposing at her residence in Killenard, Portarlington (Eircode R32 KV76) on Saturday from 11:30am until 1:30pm. Removal afterwards to The Garden Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium for Humanist Service at 3:45pm.

Peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Tallaght University Hospital. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Edward, children Eddie, Tom, Noel, Paddy, Robert, Michael, Anna, Frances and John, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, great neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy, Co. Kildare (R14 TX26), on Friday evening (October 18th) from 5pm until the conclusion of the Rosary at 8pm. Removal from her residence at 10.30am on Saturday morning (October 19th) to arrive at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Athy for Requiem Mass at 11am, see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie. Burial afterwards in Ballylinan Cemetery.
