Excitement building in Clough and Ballacolla as two schools and pre-school wear their colours

We are 24 hours away from the 2024 Laois Shopping Centre Senior hurling championship final and excitement is building.

We took a trip to Clough and Ballacolla yesterday where the younger members of both areas were decked out in the colours.

Our trip began in Happy Days Montessori where people from both sides of the divide were present.

Catherine Fitzpatrick, the owner, is originally a Bergin from Clough but is living in Rathdowney with her husband Brian.

Catherine will be happy whoever wins but two of her staff have proudly nailed their colours to the mast.

Paula Loughman is a proud Rathdowney-Errill woman while Helen Coonan is staunch Clough-Ballacolla.

Then we headed up the road to Clough National School where principal Martin Carroll and all the students were very excited.

And it was a similar story in Ballacolla NS where the students and principal Mr Pádraig Kiely proudly wore their colours.
