€226,000 funding for Laois local sports partnership under the dormant accounts fund

€226,000 in funding has been announced for Laois Local Sports Partnership under the Dormant Accounts Fund.

€134,000 will be allocated for hubs, €45,000 for urban outdoor adventure, €25,000 for equality, diversity and inclusion,€15,000 for training and education and lastly €7,000 for the Her Moves Initiative.

These fund will support local volunteers in disadvantaged areas, promote women’s participation in sports, and provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

The news was confirmed by Laois TD Sean Fleming.

He said: “This is part of ongoing Government funding to promote physical well-being and this will support projects so everyone can enjoy the numerous health benefits of being active in sport.

“I want to praise Laois Local Sports Partnership for the invaluable work they do in supporting communities and community groups throughout the County to promote sport and increase participation in sport.

“I encourage everyone to contact the Laois Local Sports Partnership, whether you are a sports person, a community group or someone who has never been involved in sports.

“The Laois LSP will provide you information and will assist you to promote and participate in sport”.
