Last week saw the 21st annual St Abban’s Athletics Club summer camp take place at the track in Monavea.
A fantastic week was enjoyed by all with a variety of sport and activities taking place as well as some art and a welcome visit from an ice cream van.
Club leaders kept the 140 plus children active for the week while also showing them some athletics events in a fun and enjoyable way.
American-bound scholarship athlete, Jack Fenlon, also came to visit the camp and encouraged each child to continue working hard and coming to training to see themselves improve in athletics.
Both Jack and John Delaney were also presented with an award for the fantastic season that both athletes had where they broke the club standards and set new heights for themselves.
“As always Condron Cars and Scats Bouncing Castles were brilliant sponsors providing t shirts, shelters and bouncing castles for the camp goers to enjoy,” the club said.
“Many thanks to camp co-ordinators Pauline Lawlor, Noleen Condron and Mary Whelan who ensure the camp runs smoothly each year.
“We look forward to camp number 22 next year.”
