Cruinniú na nÓg, the national day of creativity for children and young people, was held over the weekend, with children throughout Laois given the opportunity to express themselves in many magical ways.
The event in Laois is supported by Creative Ireland Laois and Laois County Council, and is fast becoming a highlight in the calendar for children all across the County.
Free events for families including music, face painting, art and crafts workshops and live performances were held throughout Laois.
In total, there were ten events held across seven towns: Portlaoise, Portarlington, Mountmellick, Mountrath, Rathdowney, Abbeyleix and Stradbally.
Nationally, Cruinniú na nÓg featured over 1000 creative activities for children and young people throughout the island.
The highlights in Laois included the Fall and Float in Portlaoise’s Dunamaise Arts Centre, as well as a day of face-painting and folklore in Portarlington Library.
The sports complex in Mountmellick hosted a number of activities, while there were circus performances for the children of Rathdowney and Mountrath to enjoy.
Local photographer, Alf Harvey captured all the Laois activity in a series of glorious pictures.
