Mountrath Badminton Club celebrate successful first year

Mountrath Badminton Club celebrated a very successful first season after being set up by Joe Hargroves last September.

The club has brought together former clubs in adjacent communities such as Abbeyleix, Camross, Trumera and Castletown.

They train every Tuesday and Thursday in Mountrath Community School at 7pm-8pm for juveniles and 8pm-10pm for adults.

Over 120 players are now members of the club affiliated with badminton Ireland.

Achievements this year include winning the Grade 4 men’s league, winning the Grade 4 mixed league and being awarded club of the year.

Mountrath Badminton Club are holding an end of season awards night on Friday May 31 at 9pm in Eddie Kirwan’s followed by live entertainment.

The club is growing rapidly and is appealing for new members for the new season which kicks off in July.
