Music at the Malthouse took place on the 10, 11 and 12 of May to huge success.
The festival was a combination of musical performances from musicians both young and experienced in the Malthouse in Stradbally.
Notable additions at this year’s festival included world acclaimed UK trad group ‘Flook’ who were joined by Scottish fiddler Patsy Reid.
Manchester musician Michael McGoldrick and Irish singer songwriter John Spillane also performed.
On Friday, the festival commenced with a concert featuring Laois School of Music Youth Orchestra.
The intermediate Trad group also showcased their talent before the night concluded as the Kildare Youth Folk Orchestra, The Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra and the Music Generation Laois Harp performed the piece ‘The Tionól Suite’ composed by Ernestine Healy.
On Saturday ‘Flook’ took to the stage alongside Patsy Reid also and they entertained those in attendance for the evening.
The festival culminated on Sunday with a performance from John Spillane, Lorna Mclaughlin and the Music Generation Laois’ Harp and Rock and Pop programmes.
Spillane performed the piece ‘100 snow white horses’ which was written in 2016 and supported by the Laois Arts Office.
John’s 2021 album of the same name featured Music Generation harpists under the guidance of Siobhan Buckely.
