Denis (Dinny) Whitney of 9 Chapel St, Graiguecullen, Carlow, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and in the loving care of the staff of St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved father of Sandra, Kenneth, Mark and Stuart, cherished brother of Mary, Eddie, Michael, Ber and the late Tom.

Dinny will be sadly missed by his daughter and sons, their mother Joan, siblings, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Reposing at his home, 9 Chapel St., Graiguecullen, Carlow (Eircode R93 XW52) on Saturday, April 13th, from 4pm, concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening. Removal from there on Sunday at 1.45pm to St Clare’s Church, Graiguecullen, arriving for Funeral Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.

Elizabeth (Betty) Poole (née Boland)
Drumnabehy, Rosenallis, Laois / Tyrrellspass, Westmeath

Elizabeth (Betty) Poole (nee Boland) Drumnabehy, Rosenallis, Laois and formerly Tyrrellspass, Westmeath passed peacefully in the loving care of the staff of the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, surrounded by her loving family and formerly cared for by the wonderful staff of Riada House Nursing Home, Tullamore. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sheelagh Boland (Tyrrellspass), sisters Kathleen (Quinn), Deirdre (Casey), Eileen (Cullen) and her brothers-in-law Peter Quinn, Vincent Casey, Johnny Egan and Jimmy Murphy.

Beloved wife of John Joe, loving mother of Susan (Lee) and Olive (Brennan). Sadly missed by her sons-in-law John Lee and Christian Brennan, her adored grandchildren Alison, Conor, Elsie, Jack and Emma, her sisters Maura Sullivan, Breege Coyne, Anne Murphy, Eithne Egan, Phyllis Barry, Noeleen Carey and her brothers-in-law John Joe Coyne, Peter Sullivan, Gerard Barry, Gerry Carey , Bob Cullen and Pat Poole, sisters-in-law Maureen Poole and Ann Poole, nieces and nephews, neighbours and dear friends.

Reposing at Moloney’s Funeral Home on Friday, April 12th, from 5pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7pm. Funeral arriving for 11 am Requiem Mass on Saturday, April 13th, in St. Brigid’s Church, Rosenallis. Burial afterwards in St.Brigid’s Cemetery.

Jim Multany
Castlecuffe, Clonaslee, Laois

Jim Multany, Castlecuffe, Clonaslee, Co. Laois. Died the 10th of April 2024, peacefully, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Charlie and Elizabeth, his wife Mary and his daughter Teresa.

Jim will be very sadly missed by his loving sons and daughters James, Ann, Charlie, Helen, Dolores and William, grandchildren Sarah, Teresa, William, Adrian, Ronan, Leann, Brian, Mary, Charlene and Ross, sister Mary, sons-in-law Bernard and Sean, daughter-in-law Edel and Charlie’s partner Anne, niece Olive, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his residence on Friday from 2pm with Rosary at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12 noon in St. Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, with burial afterwards in St. Manman’s Cemetery, Clonaslee. Jim’s Funeral Mass can be viewed on www.churchmedia.tv by selecting County Laois.

Bernie Marum
Kilkenny Road, Ballinakill, Laois

Bernie lived in Luton, England and died in August 2023. Sadly missed by his daughter Natalie, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Thomas (Tommy) Brophy
Baunaughra, Rathdowney, Laois / Galmoy, Kilkenny

Tommy, in his 96th year, passed away on 11th April 2024, peacefully, in the presence of his family, at Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by his parents Martin and Mary (nee Quigley), sister Addie (Laherty), grandniece Anna and her mother Claire. Tommy will be sadly missed by his nephews Tony, Pat and Eamon (Laherty), niece Mary (Johnston), grandnieces Sinéad and Sarah, grandnephews Philip, Sam and Tim, great grandniece Emily and great grandnephew Tommy, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing at his nephew Eamon’s home in Whiteswall, Galmoy (E41N280) on Friday (12th April) from 5pm concluding with Rosary at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday morning at 11am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Galmoy. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Paddy Macken
Summerhill Lane, Portlaoise, Laois/Athlone, Westmeath

Macken – Summerhill Lane, Portlaoise and formerly of Athlone, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the exceptional care of the staff of Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

Patrick (Paddy), retired asst County Librarian, Laois County Library, former Captain Mountrath Golf Club. Cherished husband and best friend of Gabrielle, adored Dad to Gary and Carla, beloved grandfather to Caleb, Emma and Alex and loving father-in-law to Rob.

He will be greatly missed by his heartbroken family his beloved doggies Maud and Matilda and his large circle of friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6.30pm until 8pm. Removal on Friday to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church, for 12 noon requiem Mass. Cremation will follow on Monday in Mount Jerome. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the Cara Rescue Dogs. House strictly private.
