LOETB take over old GameStop building in Lyster Square

Laois County Council have awarded planning permission to a number of new initiatives and projects across Portlaoise town.

The Laois Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) have been awarded planning permission to extend their base in Lyster Square.

The LOETB have taken over Unit 2 in the square, previously occupied by GameStop.

The planning permission has given the go-ahead to change the use from the existing ground floor shop unit to a further education and training centre.

There is also provision for office accommodation which will link the centre to the LOETB’s existing neighbouring unit.

Maryborough Family Practice have been granted planning permission to extend their existing family practice.

The successful application is for the existing practice at Parkside Shopping Centre at to O’Moore Park.

The development will see Unit F8 changed from office space to general medical practitioner surgery, and will include new consultation rooms, administration space, and storage space.

Meanwhile, Cosmo Rockview Developments Ltd have been given the green light to make alterations at their site in Rockview, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise.

The project will see the removal of the crèche which will be replaced by two semi-detaches houses – one a three-bedroom house and the other a four-bed.
