Portlaoise Institute recently held its first annual Further Education and Training Awareness Event.
The event, aimed at fostering awareness and enthusiasm for further education opportunities, welcomed 150 Transition Year students from Scoil Chríost Rí and Portlaoise College.
The event featured an array of engaging workshops tailored to showcase the diverse educational pathways available at Portlaoise Institute.
Students had the opportunity to participate in workshops spanning Computer Science, Beauty Therapy, Healthcare, and Sport and Fitness, gaining valuable insights into these fields and the potential career opportunities they offer.
Principal Keith McClearn addressed the students, highlighting the myriad benefits of pursuing further education courses.
Emphasising the practical skills, personal development, and career advancement opportunities that further education can provide, encouraging students to consider this path for their future endeavours.
As a token of appreciation for their participation, all Transition Year students received a certification of participation, recognising their engagement and enthusiasm throughout the event.
In addition to engaging with students, Portlaoise Institute also hosted a “Lunch and Learn” event for 11 Career Guidance teachers from around Laois.
This session provided an to explore the educational offerings of Portlaoise Institute, discuss emerging trends in further education, and share insights on guiding students towards fulfilling career paths.
Furthermore, the event served as the platform for the launch of the new prospectus for the 2024-25 academic year.
The prospectus showcases the diverse range of courses and opportunities available at Portlaoise Institute.
To cap off the week-long event, a successful coffee morning was staged, providing attendees with an informal setting to discuss the flexible learning options at Portlaoise Institute.
