Gardai are continuing to investigate following a shooting incident that occurred in Portlaoise last week.
The incident is believed to have happened on land off the Mountmellick Road on Thursday afternoon.
It is understood that a large group of people were present when a firearm was produced and used.
Gardai have confirmed that no injuries were sustained following the incident.
Video of members of an Garda Siochana appearing to search the land for evidence was subsequently posted on social media.
Gardai arrested a man, aged in his 30s, following the incident but he was subsequently released.
They say that investigations continue.
They say: “Gardaí are investigating an incident involving the discharge of a firearm on land in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, on January 24.
“No injuries have been reported.
“A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and detained at a Garda Station in Co. Laois under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
“This man has since been released and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
