There was great excitement in Timahoe due to the second running of the newly established Noel Ramsbottom memorial 5KM run held over Christmas.
Noel, who was known far and wide throughout the country, was a local legend in the Timahoe area who sadly passed away in late 2022.
He had a profound interest in athletics where he was extremely successful as a runner as he represented Ireland at International level.
Noel also was an extremely influential figure in Gaelic Football as both a coach and masseur who contributed greatly to many GAA clubs such as Timahoe, Arles-Kilcruise, Ballyroan, Eire Og and Athy.
The event was originally meant to take place on St Stephen’s Day but due to the unfortunate passing of Noel’s brother, Billy, the race was rescheduled to December 30.
It was a huge success as over €1,300 was raised which will all be donated to Meals On Wheels in Stradbally parish who provide a brilliant service.
Special thanks goes to Roghan Headen, Billy Ramsbottom and all the staff at the Tower and Bean Coffee Shop who helped in organising the event.
While the various stewards and staff at The Tower Inn also deserve a special mention for their contribution.
Cian McDonald from Ballyroann/Abbeyleix & District club was the first male home as he recorded an impressive time of 15:49.
Noelle Galwey was the first female who crossed the line with a time of 25:22.
All the results can be found below as well as some photographs which are courtesy of the very talented Ross Molloy.
