The Christmas spirit is alive and well across Laois and especially in Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix.
The festivities started last Friday with a Christmas jumper/PJ day.
1st class visited the library, 2nd class celebrated mass in The Most Holy Rosary church with the blessing of the crib and 4th to 6th class attended The Nativity in the south school.
Ms Thompson’s 4th class have also been visiting Abbeyleix hospital and entertaining by playing the violin and Christmas tunes.
The will continue to do this for the remainder of the month and look forward to making new friends.
Ms O’Doherty’s music group had great fun busking on the streets of Abbeyleix. There was huge excitement today with a visit from a very special visitor, Santa.
He listened to all the boys and girls’ wishes for Christmas and also had a lovely treat for everyone.
The Students’ Council and 6th class also held a jumble sale which was very successful.
They concluded the day with the massive Christmas hamper raffle with 100 prizes, including a signed Leinster jersey.
There was great excitement around the school the last week and everyone is looking forward to another busy festive filled week next week.
