Laois man Kieran Kehoe has been appointed as the new CEO of Meath County Council.
The Killenard native has a distinguished working career, most recently serving as Director of Services in Waterford City and County Council and prior to that in a number of managerial roles in Laois County Council.
He holds an engineering degree from UCD as well as a Certificate in Project Management and Masters in Public Administration.
Prior to working in Laois County Council he spent more than five years in the renowned Butlers Steel in Portarlington.
In Laois County Council, he began as an executive engineer before rising up the ranks where he held various Director of Services roles from September 2012 until his departure in January 2019.
A former underage county footballer with Laois, Kieran is the current vice-chairman of Laois GAA having come on to the county board initially as football chairman.
Fiona Lawless has been in the role in a temporary capacity since June of this year when she replaced the outgoing CEO Jackie Maguire who has retired.
The position was then advertised by the Public Appointments Service with Kieran Kehoe the preferred candidate.
It’s understood that he will take up his position in the coming weeks.
