To round off the end of the first term at Portlaoise College, the new first-year students enjoyed a Halloween disco organised by the enthusiastic and creative Meitheal Students.

The event was held in the school hall, which was transformed into a spooky wonderland with cobwebs and spiders.

From the moment the students entered, they were greeted with an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation.

The Meitheal Students had gone all out to ensure that the event was a memorable one, and their efforts did not go unnoticed.

To get the students fuelled for the disco the Meitheal Team organised chocolate chip cookies for everyone in the canteen before they danced the morning away.

The students arrived in their most creative and often hilarious Halloween costumes, ranging from classic monsters to popular movie characters.

Beyond the fun, this event also had a meaningful purpose, as proceeds from the Halloween disco will be donated to Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

“The Meitheal Leadership team have played a major role in ensuring our 192 first-year students have settled seamlessly into secondary school,” the school said.

“It was heart-warming to see our school community come together, have a great time, and support a worthy cause.

“The Halloween disco will undoubtedly be a cherished memory for the first-year students, and it showcased the sense of unity within our school.

Having completed their training over the summer, the Meitheal Leaders in school have set a positive example for the whole school community and beyond.”

The Meitheal Leaders are: Judyta Bera, Jannet Cierocka, Hadassa Da Silva, Liam Daly, Darragh Greene, Alisha Lawless, Poppy Mullin, Mariya Petrushkova, and Sam Rooney.
