Mass will be celebrated at the Treascon Mass Rock site on the banks of the Barrow on Wednesday, on August 30 at 7pm.
Mass will be celebrated by Fr Dooley PP at the event which normally attracts up to 100 people.
Parking is available on the Treascon side of the river.
The area attracts people from the wider Portarlington and Killenard area and has been held every year for the past 35 years or so, since it was resurrected in the early 80s by a local committee.
The mass rock was used to celebrate mass during penal times when Roman Catholic mass and events were proscribed.
According to local folklore a headless priest’s body was found close to the mass rock site.
During penal times there was a bounty on priests who were hunted for money.
The event is a popular one in the local community.
