Portlaoise is set to become famous in a TV documentary series following life in and around the town over the next few months.
Motive TV, who produced the popular Bypassed programme for RTE One last year, is now looking to follow the journeys of some of the town’s most colourful or interesting characters.
Filming has just started on this three-part series to air on TV3 early next year.
“If you are a young person on a journey between now and February, we’d love to hear from you says producer Yvonne Kinsella.
“Maybe you have an interesting story to tell – are getting married before February, house hunting because of living in a crowded house, or unable to get on the housing ladder. Maybe you moved down from Dublin and commute back and forth every day or are battling a serious illness or have a child with a serious illness and have to travel a distance for medical treatment,
“Maybe you are trying to live the dream in a local band, are a budding country and western singer or hoping to make it in karaoke, have a love of drifting, are about to have a baby, are a carer or home help with an amazing story, are a teenager eager to prove his or herself or if you are the town’s most colourful character we’d love to hear from you.”
If you think your story would be interesting to viewers, or know someone who has a story to tell, then call or text Yvonne for a chat on 085 8073003.
As filming has just started and there are only a few more stories to find, the producer is eager to chat to people now.
This programme is all about Portlaoise town and its surrounding parish and an opportunity to tell some amazing stories of life in the town, so if you want to get your story out there, then this could be the opportunity you were waiting for.
