Shock and sadness at the death of the well-known Mick Doran

Mick Doran RIP

There is sadness in the Clonad community and beyond this weekend with the news of the sudden passing of Mick Doran.

Mick worked with Eircom for many years before setting up his own insulation company in recent times.

Very well known in sporting circles he was centre-forward on the Clonad team that famously won the Laois senior hurling championship title in 1992.

And he was very proud of his sons’ sporting achievements in recent years with Mikey playing senior club rugby with Young Munster in Limerick and Conor hurling on the Mountrath CS team in recent weeks.

Mick is predeceased by his father Michael, mother Sheila, sister Maureen.

Deeply regretted by his loving sons Michael and Conor, best friend Catherine, cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6.30pm, with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday to arrive at St Fintan’s Church, Raheen, for 12 noon Requiem Mass, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

The Doran family thank you for your understanding at this difficult time. Government Covid guidelines still to be observed.

Those attending funeral are requested to wear masks and refrain from handshaking.
