More than 1,000 Covid-19 booster vaccine appointments are available to book in Portlaoise between now and New Year’s Eve.
The HSE have confirmed that appointments are available at their mass vaccination centre in St Fintan’s Hospital in Portlaoise.
A total of 1,180 appointments were available in total but demand has already been very strong.
A spokesperson said: “It is important that people check that they are eligible.
“That is that they are over 30 years old, three months since their second dose and Covid free for three months.
“Wednesday appointments are almost booked up but there are plenty for Thursday afternoon and all day Friday.”

Meanwhile, the HSE has also issued details on what those who received the single shot Janssen vaccine.
If you are 16 or older and got the Janssen single-dose vaccine for your first round of vaccination, you will be offered a single booster dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
From December 29, you can get your booster by booking an appointment with a participating pharmacy.
If you are aged 18 to 29, you may also be able to get your booster at a GP.
From January 3, you will be able to get your booster at many of the HSE’s clinics.
These will be available as walk-ins (no appointment) or self-booked clinics (with appointment).
These will be specifically for people who got Janssen previously.
