A Laois primary school has applied for planning permission for an extension that would include a new classroom, multi-sensory room and office.
Clonaghadoo NS, which is in the parish of Mountmellick but associated with the Kilcavan GAA club, recently applied to Laois County Council for:
“A new single storey extension on the north side of the existing school that will include a new classroom, safe space, multi-sensory room, storeroom, office, toilets, boiler room and all associated site works including a new gas tank and compound on the north end of the site”.
The school, which has approximately 100 students, five teachers and four SNAs, have an ASD unit since last year with this build to cater for a suitable classroom.
A decision is due on the Clonaghadoo application at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, planning has been granted for a number of new sports facilities around the county.
Laois GAA will construct a new ball wall at the Centre of Excellence beside O’Moore Park in Portlaoise while the Castletown Sports Field committee have been successful with their plans for a floodlit astroturf pitch.
Clonad GAA are developing a walking track around their grounds while Arles-Killeen are building an extension on to their clubhouse in Rossena.
