A Laois child who was hurt in an accident involving a quad bike has sadly passed away from his injuries.
Gardai were called to the Dooary area of Ballyroan at 11am on Wednesday where it is understood a young boy had become trapped under the vehicle.
Emergency services also attended and the child was subsequently airlifted to hospital.
The air support unit landed in Ballyroan GAA club grounds before taking the boy to hospital.
However, he was unable to recover from his injuries.
It is understood that the child’s family only moved into the area in the last few years and are originally from Lithuania.

He told LaoisToday: “This is tragic news and our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this time.
