A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a Laois dad-of-five following his sad passing.
Rory Buchanan, from Fairgreen in Portlaoise, passed away on February 5 following a short battle with cancer.
At just 38-years-of-age, Rory leaves behind his wife Mandie and his five children Kyle (15) Ashlee (13) Emili (8) Charlie (4) and Ruairí Óg (2).
Kathy Byrne, a family friend, has launched a fundraiser which will help Rory’s family deal with any medical, funeral and other expenses that will arise over the course of these tough few weeks and months that they have to face without Rory.
She said: “We’re so sorry to share the news of the untimely passing of Rory Buchanan.
“Rory lost his all-too-short battle with cancer on February 5.
“He was an adoring husband to Mandie and a loving and proud father to his five children Kyle (15) Ashlee (13) Emili (8) Charlie (4) and Ruairí Óg (2).
“Rory, who was only 38, was so loved by all those who came into his life. Whenever anyone thinks or talks of Rory, it’s the unbreakable love for his family that will be held strongest in their hearts.
“He’s left behind a strong and caring mother and five beautiful kids who have lost the unwavering love of their father far too soon.
“To this end, we have started a GoFundMe to try and help his family with any medical, funeral and other expenses that will arise over the course of these tough few weeks and months that they have to face without Rory.
“If you can help us to relieve them of any financial issues in the wake of Rory’s sudden passing, we’d be so hugely grateful.
“Please keep Mandie and Rory’s five children in your thoughts and prayers.”
The fundraiser was launched yesterday and already, more than €32,000 has been donated.
Kathy said: “We are overwhelmed by the support and kindness of everyone, this means so much to Rory’s Family.
“They are so grateful to each and everyone of you.”
