There is deep sadness in Portarlington following the tragic passing of a young dad.
Gary Lanigan, of 1 Castlelea view, Portarlington and formerly from Marlstone, Thurles, in Tipperary, passed away suddenly on Tuesday December 15.
Loving brother of the late Josh, Gary is sadly missed by his loving partner Gabrielle and their daughter Madison.
His loss is also deeply regretted by his loving mother Regina, stepfather Kevin, brothers Cormac and Taylor, sister Kerri, grandparents, aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends.
Gary was a keen gaelic footballer where he played for his native Portarlington.
He represented the club at all levels and also played for Laois at U-21 level.
Portarlington GAA paid a heartfelt tribute following news of Gary’s passing.
They said: “Portarlington GAA Club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to our former Club Senior Football and Laois U-21 Goalkeeper Gary Lanigan who passed away suddenly last night.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary’s partner Gabi, his baby daughter Madison and both their families at this very sad time.”
Due to the Covid 19 restrictions a private family funeral will take place with the following details published:
“Removal from his residence on Thursday at 11am arriving St Michael’s Church, Portarlington, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.
“A private family cremation service to take place afterwards. People are welcome to stand along the route to the church and in the churchyard with Social Distancing being observed.
“The family would like to thank you for your help and understanding at this sad and difficult time.
